Alexis Delaney

A resident of Conroe, Texas since 2001, Alexis is a graduate of Oak Ridge High School and Lone Star College. While most of her life has been spent locally, her formative years were spent moving from city to city with her oil and gas family. This constant change of living situation caused her to identify and bond more with other students that also lived a more mobile lifestyle, many being children of military families. These friends, coupled with being raised by an Army veteran, helped impress upon her a sense of loyalty and service to her country and community.
In High School, when the letters from colleges and phone calls from recruiters came in, she chose the former, but still wanted to contribute to the betterment of and service to her fellow citizens and dedicated years to volunteering with the American Red Cross. As she worked through college, she had the opportunity to host and organize many charitable events including auctions for Boots for Troops, fundraising carwashes, and other donation events for local people and organizations in need.
Outside of her time and own money, she has also donated her hair to organizations like Locks of Love and Wigs for Kids. When the opportunity was presented to her to have a hand in completing “The Way Home” monument, Alexis was honored to be a part of such an amazing project located so close to the place she finally gets to call “home”.
